Blue River
Located just north of the Recreation Center, you’ll find a section called the “Stair Steps”. This stretch of river was just reclaimed and several drop pools were added. The river runs next to the bike path, which makes it easy for those looking for an afternoon of walking and wading.
Another section of the Blue River that’s worth your time is located north of Breckenridge in Silverthorne, near the outlet stores. This stretch of the river is easily accessible and contains a plethora of large trout.
Tip: The merging areas of Blue River, Tenmile Creek and Snake River are the best for trout!
Lake Dillon
Located on your way into Breckenridge, Lake Dillon is a beautiful spot with fishing and much more. There are paddle board and boat rentals at the marina, along with a picnic area and beach. It’s super fun for everyone in the family. Lake Dillon contains 25 miles of shoreline and is stocked with rainbow trout. It’s also home to brown trout, kokanee salmon and Arctic char.

Swan River
Located just north of Breckenridge near the golf course. While the trout in Swan River may not have the size that you see in some other areas, you’re sure to delight in the challenge of their feisty ways. No matter how fruitful your time on the river is, the biggest treat of all is the stunning mountain scenery.
Directions: From downtown Breck, go north on Highway 9 to Tiger Road. Turn right and continue past the golf course. After the pavement ends, you’ll see a trailhead and parking area.
Tenmile Creek
Running from Copper Mountain into Frisco and located on the south side of the interstate, Tenmile Creek is a small stream that’s often overlooked. It has some of the best fly fishing in the Breck area.
We Recommend Platte Ranch near Buena Vista or Rusty Spurr Ranch near Kremmling. Both offer an authentic ranch style horseback riding experience.
