When Not Skiing
Things To Do When NOT Skiing
Fat bikes have become very popular over the past few years. Biking is now a year long activity in Breckenridge. You can rent them at most ski rental/bike shops in the area. There are plenty of places to ride but our favorites are on the trails in French Gulch just behind town.

White Water Rafting and Float Trips
There are several companies in and around Breckenridge. We love the Upper Colorado for an easy float trip and rivers in Salida and Buena Vista for the big adventure. Below are our favorites in the Buena Vista/Salida area. KODI also runs the upper Colorado and Blue River.
Mountain Angler in Breckenridge runs wonderful fly fishing adventures and has been a staple in Breckenridge for a long time. This would be a great place for you to start. They also have a retail location right on Main Street.
The Blue River
Located just north of the Recreation Center, you’ll find a section called the “Stair Steps,”. This stretch of river was just reclaimed and several drop pools were added. The river runs next to the bike path, which makes it easy for those looking for an afternoon of walking and wading.
Another section of the Blue River that’s definitely worth your time is located north of Breckenridge in Silverthorne, near the outlet stores. This stretch of the river is easily accessible and contains an abundance of large trout.
Swan River is located just north of Breckenridge near the golf course. From downtown Breck, go north on Highway 9 to Tiger Road, where you will take a right. Continue on past the golf course and after the pavement ends, you’ll see a trailhead and parking area. While the trout in Swan River may not have the size that you’ll see in some other areas, you’re sure to be delighted with how challenging and feisty they can be. If your time on this river is as fruitful as you’d hoped, you’ll still be treated to some stunning mountain scenery.
Tenmile Creek is a smaller creek that runs from Copper Mountain into Frisco. Here you will find natural barriers.
Located on your way into Breckenridge this is a beautiful spot with fishing and much more. Here you will find a marina with paddle board and boat rentals and a picnic area and beach. Super fun for everyone in the family. Lake Dillon contains 25 miles of shoreline and is stocked with rainbow trout, but also home contains brown trout, kokanee salmon, and Arctic char. The Blue River, Tenmile Creek, and Snake River merging areas are best for Trout!
Make sure you check out the Colorado Parks and Wildlife Fishing page for regulation and fishing license information.
There are several golf clubs in the area. The easiest and closest (and one of the best) is the golf club located right here in Breckenridge.
